Por Que No Ecoroof

When Por Que No added a dining room to their Mississippi Street location, we were brought in early to design the roof details for the ecoroof assembly. On the south side of the roof, there’s a hot water solar collector to aid the additional hot water needs of the restaurant.

Though small, at about 150 square feet, this is an important ecoroof; it is unique in that it’s on a 5″ per foot slope, making it visible from the ground. It’s also on a busy pedestrian street over the dining area of a very popular restaurant so that those walking by/coming in to the restaurant are made aware of the ecoroof. In most cases, ecoroofs aren’t visible from the ground and generally people walking by, or even those working in the building don’t know there’s a living environment on the roof.
