Self Enhancement, Inc. Rooftop Patio

The North Portland non-profit organization, Self Enhancement, Inc. (SEI), had an unused roof area which was visible from the second floor hallway, and accessible from a meeting space/board room which they wanted to convert to a patio. When they discovered that the roof was leaking and needing repair, we created a design to accommodate their desire for a patio, which included garden boxes for flowers and vegetables, and ecoroof plantings to help absorb rainwater.

With a grant from Metro, and the help of our industry partners – ProGro Mixes, Parr Lumber, Mutual Materials, Dealer’s Supply, United Rentals, and the Michael Wisshack Family, we procured donated/discounted materials, and worked with SEI staff and volunteers to transform their rooftop into a space for students and staff to enjoy.
